Wednesday March 14, 2018  |  Toronto

The third and final lecture in the Hemson Simpson Lecture Series, Issues for the City: Metropolis of Cities, took place last Thursday. This lecture given by Joan Busquets, First Martin Bucksbaum Professor in Practice of Urban Planning Design at Harvard University, was presented jointly by the Department of Architectural Science and the School of Urban and Regional Planning.

Professor Busquets spoke about how contemporary issues such as globalization, fairness and social justice, mobility patterns, and the economy, help shape our urban environments. As part of the lecture series, two curated exhibitions have been installed at the Paul H. Cocker Gallery in the School of Architecture. Barcelona, Metropolis of Cities is curated by Juan Busquets, in collaboration with Area Metropolitana de Barcelona and Harvard University, Graduate School of Design. This exhibit has travelled the world, and Ryerson University is honoured to have the privilege of displaying this important exhibition.

The second exhibition, Global South, Metropolis of Cities is curated by Professor Shelagh McCartney in collaboration with +plus city lab and the School of Urban and Regional Planning. Both of these exhibitions will be up from March 8th - April 20th.
